Luis Roman is the Co-Founder and Director of Operations and Finance at Happy Pet Eyes, where he oversees the strategic, financial, and operational foundation of the practice. With more than two decades of experience spanning academia, quantitative finance, and small business advisory work, Luis brings analytical rigor, disciplined planning, and long-term vision to the growth of the clinic.
Luis earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics and spent six years in academia as a professor before transitioning into the financial sector. He later held senior roles in investment risk management and portfolio analytics, where he developed deep expertise in risk assessment, capital allocation, and complex systems management. Over time, his professional focus expanded toward advising small business owners, helping them build financial clarity, operational resilience, and sustainable growth strategies.
In 2020, during a period of significant economic uncertainty, Luis began working closely with entrepreneurs navigating operational and financial challenges. That experience reinforced his belief that strong businesses are built not only on technical excellence, but also on disciplined systems, thoughtful leadership, and clear long-term planning. He brings that same philosophy to Happy Pet Eyes.
At the clinic, Luis is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, capital strategy, technology systems, vendor relationships, and marketing development. He oversees lease management, equipment acquisition, banking partnerships, and infrastructure implementation, ensuring that the operational framework supports the highest standards of specialty ophthalmic care. As the practice grows, he leads organizational planning, staffing strategy, and long-term expansion initiatives designed to maintain stability while scaling responsibly.
Luis believes that exceptional medical care thrives in an environment supported by operational precision and financial discipline. His role is to build and maintain that structure behind the scenes — allowing Dr. Martinez and the clinical team to focus fully on delivering advanced, compassionate care to patients and their families.
He is also deeply committed to community engagement and relationship-building. Luis actively works to strengthen partnerships with referring veterinarians, local business leaders, and financial institutions throughout South Florida. He views Happy Pet Eyes not simply as a clinic, but as a long-term community partner dedicated to preserving vision and improving quality of life for pets.
Outside of his professional work, Luis values health, lifelong learning, writing, and staying active. He brings intellectual curiosity, strategic foresight, and a strong sense of purpose to every aspect of building Happy Pet Eyes.
Together with Dr. Jessica Martinez and the entire team, Luis is committed to developing Happy Pet Eyes into a premier veterinary ophthalmology practice defined by medical excellence, operational strength, and meaningful community impact.
